Here are photos of what had been Ms Goldsmith’s Payette Valley Sentinal office – was down by White Hardware. I think the two women you see here bought the paper from the Goldsmiths. I do not know the two ladies – note the huge adding machines we used to use. You can get an idea of when the photo from the reflection in the window of cars across the street – looks like ~1955 Chev and similar pickup.
Also photo of Claire Goldsmith and her husband, William, the postmaster, at the post office when it was in Pioneer Hall building. Note that the storefront next to the post office was the telephone office. You can see the phone emblem on the window.
Must have been some “do” as they are all dressed up. And, it looks like folks are waiting for something to open up. Postmasters usually do not get all “gussied up” for regular work.
BTW: the “water office” where you paid the water share usage was directly across the street, forever – I guess. I never heard of it being anywhere else.
